PPF protects paint physically, but the film still needs care. Poor washing, aggressive pressure washing, and neglecting edges can shorten the life and appearance of the installation.
First Days After Installation
Follow the installer’s curing instructions. Some haze, moisture pockets, or small appearance changes can settle as the film cures. Do not pick at edges or push bubbles unless instructed.
Washing PPF
Use mild shampoo, soft wash mitts, and clean towels. Avoid harsh solvents and aggressive scrubbing. Clean bugs and bird droppings early because contamination can stain film if left too long.
Pressure Washing
Be careful near edges. Do not aim high-pressure water directly into film edges, seams, or corners. Keep distance and angle the spray safely.
Ceramic Coating Over PPF
A compatible ceramic coating can make PPF easier to wash and dry. It does not replace the film; it improves surface behavior on top of it.
What To Inspect
Check:
- Edges
- Corners
- Door cups
- High-contact areas
- Yellowing or staining
- Lifted sections
If an edge lifts, do not keep rubbing it. Return for inspection.
ReLuxe Recommendation
Treat PPF like a protective skin. Wash gently, protect edges, dry properly, and inspect after the first curing period and during regular maintenance.
