Monsoon rain, mud, humidity, and hard-water spotting can quickly make a clean car feel neglected. This guide explains how to protect your vehicle through the season.

The monsoon season is one of the hardest periods for vehicle maintenance in Itahari and the wider Koshi region. Rain itself is not the only problem. The real issues are mud, road film, humidity, water spotting, damp interiors, and poor drying habits.

Paint Problems During Monsoon

Rainwater mixes with dust, traffic residue, and minerals. When that water dries on the paint, it can leave spots that become harder to remove. Mud on lower panels can also hold grit against the surface. If the car is wiped while dirty, that grit can create swirl marks.

During monsoon, focus on gentle removal rather than aggressive scrubbing:

  • Rinse mud before contact washing
  • Use a lubricating shampoo
  • Wash from top to bottom
  • Clean lower panels last
  • Dry with a clean towel

Glass Visibility

Dirty glass becomes a safety problem in heavy rain. Wiper chatter, oily film, and mineral spots reduce visibility. Clean the windshield with a proper glass cleaner and inspect wiper blades before the season starts.

Glass coating or rain repellent can help water move faster, but it does not replace clean glass and good wipers.

Interior Moisture

Wet shoes, umbrellas, damp mats, and closed windows can create a stale smell. Fabric mats hold moisture longer than rubber mats. If the car smells damp, the source needs to be dried and cleaned rather than covered with perfume.

Interior monsoon habits:

  • Remove wet mats and dry them properly
  • Vacuum mud after it dries
  • Clean door sills and pedals
  • Avoid leaving damp cloths in the cabin
  • Use sun and ventilation when possible

Engine Bay And Lower Areas

Mud and water splash can collect around the lower bay, wheel wells, and underbody areas. Engine bay detailing should be careful, not aggressive. Sensitive electronics must be protected and high-pressure water should not be blasted into connectors.

Ceramic Coating During Monsoon

A ceramic-coated car still needs washing. Coating makes cleaning easier, but it cannot stop water spots if dirty rain dries repeatedly. Use pH-neutral shampoo, dry the car after washing, and inspect areas where water sits.

ReLuxe Recommendation

Before monsoon, consider exterior detailing, glass cleaning, wiper inspection, mat cleaning, and paint protection. During monsoon, rinse mud early, dry the car properly, and treat interior moisture before it becomes odor.
