ReLuxe car care guide

Wash, detail, polish, wax, sealant, and coating are often confused. This guide explains the order and purpose of each step.

Car care terms are often used loosely. A wash, detail, polish, wax, sealant, ceramic coating, and PPF are different services. Choosing the right one starts with understanding what problem you want solved.

Wash

A wash removes loose dirt. It should be done safely with clean tools and proper shampoo. A wash does not remove bonded contamination or correct paint defects.

Exterior Detailing

Exterior detailing is a deeper clean. It can include pre-wash, contact wash, decontamination, trim care, tyres, glass, and protection. It resets the exterior more thoroughly than a basic wash.

Polish

Polishing refines paint. It can improve gloss and reduce swirl marks, oxidation, and haze. Polishing is correction, not protection.

Wax Or Sealant

Wax and sealant protect the finish after cleaning or polishing. They add slickness and water behavior, but they are temporary.

Ceramic Coating

Ceramic coating is longer-term surface protection. It needs proper prep and maintenance.

PPF

PPF is physical protection from chips and scuffs. It is installed on selected panels or the full car.

ReLuxe Recommendation

If the car is dirty, wash it. If paint feels rough, decontaminate it. If paint looks dull or swirled, polish it. If you want short-term protection, wax or seal it. If you want easier long-term maintenance, coat it. If you want impact protection, install PPF.
